Hadleigh Castle - Fun & Free, The Perfect Day Out!

Hadleigh Country Park has some amazing walks where you can take in the views and look for native wildlife. Whilst walking through the park you can expect to see butterflies, birds, hedgerows, natural woodland and marshland. In addition to its clearly marked walking trails, Hadleigh Country Park also has many cycling and bridle paths giving you additional ways to explore. Hadleigh this time next year will be buzzing with excitement in preparation for the 2012 Olympic Games - take a trip next year to get involved in the action. Transport links into Hadleigh are good and in addition to good road systems there are many buses that pass through the area. Why not take a trip to Hadleigh Essex today. Whether you visit Hadleigh Castle, the Rare Breeds Farm, or simply want to see the Olympics sites it is well worth a trip! When you've had enough of the farm you can pop to the visitor's centre for a cup of tea and a rest whilst you take in the amazing views across the estuary. Once a month, you can experience all that the Hadleigh farmer's market has to offer including home made and local produce.

Close to Hadleigh Castle is the fairly new Salvation Army centre and farm. Many people visit Hadleigh to come to the Salvation Army Centre and to visit the farm. Situated in the lovely countryside surrounding the castle, Hadleigh?s Salvation Army Farm is a quaint visitor attraction that is particularly popular with young children. The farm houses several rare British breeds of goats, pigs, sheep and poultry. Little ones will also have fun sprinting around the maze and playing in the sandpit. Kids also love to climb on the recent additions - a pirate ship and fort climbing frame. Children and adults will also adore feeding and getting to know the many animals and at a cost of under ?10 for a family of four this day out won't break the bank!

Don't fail to pay a visit to Hadleigh Castle, the region's most widley known landmark - you can also enjoy a amazing walk and lunch in the Visitor's Centre on the way. For the duration of the Hundred Years War, Hadleigh Castle was one of the many defences against the French. Whilst the first tower has decayed a little, the second tower is still standing to almost its original height and you'll have great fun exploring these ancient ruins. You can stand inside Hadleigh Castle's ruins and get a really great feel of what life must have been like back in those ancient days. These days most people prefer to sit in the shadows of the ruins enjoying a picnic on the grass or walking around the lovely countryside that surrounds it.

Ancient ruins, views over the Thames Estuary and wonderful country walks make Hadleigh in Essex a perfect place to visit. Now, due to its status as the site of the Olympic mountain biking competition, people are starting to take notice of this hidden treasure in South East Essex.
